What is 14Kt Gold Filled?

14kt gold filled is an affordable alternative to solid gold. It is created by using heat and pressure to permanently bond a thick layer of gold to a core of jeweler’s brass. Gold filled jewelry is more durable than gold plated jewelry, with the gold layer making up at least 5% of the total weight of the item (this is more than 100 times the amount of gold found in gold-plated items).

What is 14Kt Rose Gold Filled?

Rose gold filled is very similar gold filled. The difference is a small amount of copper added to the gold layer, creating the signature warm, pinkish hue.

Can I wear my jewelry in the pool/ocean/shower?

We recommend removing all jewelry before swimming or showering. Chorine and salt water can cause metals to tarnish more quickly, and can damage some gemstones (i.e., pearls). Fresh water will not damage your jewelry, but exposure to moisture may lead to the need for more frequent and deeper cleanings to maintain shine and luster.

Will my jewelry tarnish?

Tarnish is a natural process that occurs when metals react with compounds found in the air and environment. To slow the process, avoid contact with chemicals, cosmetics, and perfumes, and always remove your jewelry before swimming or showering. Silver jewelry is the most susceptible to tarnish, while gold-filled jewelry is very resistant to tarnish. If your piece does tarnish, don’t worry – a quick polish with a jewelry polishing cloth or liquid jewelry cleaner will restore your jewelry to like-new shine.
